High Through-Put 13C/12C & 15N/14N Isotope Measurements

______________________________

The PaleoIsotope division of PaleoScience is a high through-put facility dedicated to 13C/12C & 15N/14N isotope measurements. To date, PaleoScience has analyzed over 20,000 carbon and nitrogen samples without a delay in its stated turnaround guidelines. PaleoScience provides these measurements in as little as 24 hours.

PaleoScience's currently has two Thermo Finnigan MAT DELTA Plus Mass Spectrometers dedicated to analyzing 13C/12C & 15N/14N isotopes.  The Thermo Finnigan MAT DELTA Plus is an isotope ratio mass spectrometer for high precision measurement of the relative isotope abundances of 13C, 15N, 18O, 34S and D. The system comprises of a high sensitivity, self-aligning gas tight electron impact ion source. The ion source is optimized for CO2, N2, SO2, and H2. Accelerating voltage is 3 kV.

The system also contains a monolithic weld-free stainless steel ion source housing. The ion source housing contains integrated heaters and is bakeable to 90 °C. The ion source contains integrated radiant heating.

Coupled to the Mass Spectrometer is the Costech 4010 Elemental Analyzer. The Elemental Combustion System 4010 was designed as an advanced analytical platform for CHNS-O elemental analysis and Nitrogen/Protein determination. It is based on an automatic analytical unit whose operation - from sampling up to signal detection - is microprocessor controlled. It represents an evolution in the technique of elemental analysis by "flash combustion/chromatographic separation and multi-detector techniques".
